St Clairsville Bike Trail

I took a solo ride on the St. Clairsville bike trail, finally reopened after more than a year of tunnel construction. The new pavement made for a smooth start, but the real charm came from the unexpected encounters — a friendly frog, a good dog with its owner, and the quiet stretch of trail that’s been waiting to be used again. When the fresh pavement gave way to the old, I rolled over a long crack that instantly brought back the old saying: “Step on a crack, break your mother’s back.” That little moment turned into a reflection on superstitions and the strange things we carry with us from childhood.
