For Orthodox Christians, however, it is above all the profound visual expression of their faith, a theology of colors. While icons are exhibited like works of art in many museums, in Orthodox families and churches they are objects of veneration and meditation. A trip to the Sinai Peninsula and Greece illustrates the special nature of icons.
