March 26, 2023 Driving through rural small town Tallulah, Louisiana. Outside of Tallulah was the first airport in Louisiana, Shirley field. It is also known as Scott Field and is on the National Register of Historical Places. Tallulah is the parish seat of Madison Parish. It has been a major producer of cotton and pecans. The city was burned during the Civil War by Union soldiers under the command of General Ulysses S Grant. On April 24, 2010, an EF4 tornado touched down just outside of town. ..."The parish seat also attracted Jewish immigrants. Based on the success of their drugstore, in 1927 merchant brothers Mertie M. and Abe Bloom built the first enclosed shopping mall, Bloom's Arcade, in the United States in Tallulah. It was built by A.
