Pioneer SX 838 Demo

This video demonstrates the functions and condition of my 40 year old Pioneer SX-838. Just serviced. Service Details: Cleaned tuning capacitor Lubricated dial cord pulleys and tuning dial shaft Repaired dial pointer Removed output transistors, cleaned old thermal compound, new thermal compound applied Replaced dial lamps with 5, fuse-type LEDs Replaced Meter lamps with 2, fuse-type LEDs Replaced all three speaker position indicator lamps with miniature AC audio lamps Cleaned all audio contacts & all pushbutton, throw and selector switches with Deoxit D5 Cleaned both Volume and Balance potentiometers with Deoxit D5 followed by Deoxit F5 Lubricated all control shafts Right and Left Power Amplifier Sections aligned according to the service manual Polished & cleaned all rear audio connections Thoroughly cleaned both the upper and lower internal compartments of the receiver Dial glass polished front and back Faceplate and knobs cleaned and polished All screws and nuts re-torqued IF and Radio adjustments left intact (not included in basic restoration service) Tape I//O's and advanced recording functions, untested (not included in basic restoration service) Bench-tested all basic functions. 35 hours of run time since service.
