"I personally did not post extremist symbols. I went to the girl who posted them and was held accountable. It's like having a portrait of Navalny hanging in your home—that's a different story. "But if you come to visit, and the hostess has this portrait hanging on her wall, and the police say, 'We know you were there, so you were promoting extremism,'" Nadezhdin said. The politician believes the case is politically motivated and links it to the start of the signature collection campaign. "They remember 2024, when lines formed across the country to sign. As soon as I started collecting signatures again, they first gave me the status of 'foreign agent,' and now they're slapping me with an administrative charge. If this decision comes into force, I won't be able to participate in the elections," he said. Nadezhdin also claimed that the authorities are trying to prevent him from running. "Taking a well-known politician who ran for president and looking for some post on his Telegram about going on a live stream is sheer nonsense. They're just nervous and realize they can't stop me any other way," the politician said. He also said that during his arrest, one of the police officers asked him if he would make it to Sheremetyevo Airport in time. Nadezhdin replied that he had no intention of leaving the country. According to the politician, his wife and elderly parents are the ones most worried about the current situation. He noted that he has heart problems and even a short-term administrative arrest could have an impact on his health. Nadezhdin said he hopes to receive a fine, but he doesn't know how he will pay it, as he has been declared bankrupt. If the court finds the politician guilty of "displaying extremist symbols" and the decision comes into force, Nadezhdin will be barred from running in the elections for a year.
