The shantytown leader handles all the dirty work of the shantytown, distributing relief supplies from around the country and cleaning up after events. One pastor, for example, volunteers daily by providing lunch boxes to the shantytown residents, helping those evicted find new housing, and providing living expenses for a certain period of time. ■ Redevelopment Dongja-dong is also swept up in a redevelopment frenzy, but the gap between homeowners and residents regarding redevelopment is extreme.
