The siege lasted a year and a half. The first and second destructions of the Holy City were very similar. Ezekiel's warning foreshadowed Jesus' later warning. In both instances of destruction, people did not repent. The two destructions of Jerusalem foreshadowed the destruction of the world, serving as a warning to humanity facing the Last Judgment. Just as Jerusalem, with its heinous sins, remained unrepentant, so too do many in the world today remain unrepentant and refuse to accept Christ's salvation.
