In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa made the Green Candle out of magic wax and tied it to Tommy — as it burned, it drained his Green Ranger powers, and if it melted all the way, his power would be Rita's forever. The candle was hidden in the Dark Dimension, guarded by Goldar, and if Tommy touched it himself the drain only sped up. Jason went in to save it and failed. Tommy lost his powers in the episode "Green No More," handed the Green Power Coin to Jason, and later came back as the White Ranger.
