Die Fehler, die Hitler die Ostfront kosteten
Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941 was the largest invasion in human history: almost four million soldiers, thousands of tanks, thousands of aircraft – and half a million horses. Initially, the German advance seemed unstoppable. But in the end, the campaign became a total catastrophe and marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany. But could things have turned out differently? In this video, I explore whether the Germans actually had a realistic chance of defeating Russia – and what crucial mistakes cost them victory. We examine the three most consequential decisions: – Why halting the advance on Moscow may have destroyed their best chance for a swift victory. – How the brutal treatment of the population in Ukraine and the Baltic states transformed millions of potential allies into bitter enemies. – Why declaring war on the United States was one of the most disastrous mistakes ever. We also address the central question: What would a "victory" in the East actually have meant? And what role could closer cooperation with Japan have played? A look at one of the most brutal campaigns in history—and at the mistakes that decisively shaped the course of World War II. If you like this video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, and share your opinion in the comments: Could the Germans really have won the Eastern Front?
