The 30-Second Reset: Meditation for Busy Minds | Coopers' Code

Coopers' Code | Podcast | Episode 158: The 30-Second Reset: Meditation for Busy Minds In Part 2 of this two-part Coopers’ Code conversation, Miles Cooper continues his discussion with Jessica Samples, a San Francisco-based mindfulness teacher, coach, group facilitator, and founder of CoCreate Calm. If you have not watched Part 1 yet, start there first: Youtube:    • Why Calmness Feels Terrifying to High Achi...   Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4Mp4... In this second part, Miles and Jessica move from the foundation of mindfulness into the practical question: how does someone with a busy, demanding, high-pressure life actually begin? The conversation explores how mindfulness and meditation can help busy professionals expand their windows of tolerance. Another way of putting this, in Miles’ words, is moving beyond lizard brain reactivity to cognitive response. But rather than staying in theory, Part 2 focuses on real-world application: body-based tools, mindful eating, movement, micro-practices, and ways to work with resistance when the practice itself becomes difficult to start. Miles continues to put Jessica through the objections many lawyers, parents, professionals, and high achievers may recognize. What if I do not have time? What if slowing down feels impossible? What if my mind will not stop? What if the part of me that resists practice is there for a reason? Jessica also explains how Internal Family Systems can interact with trauma-sensitive mindfulness, why cold plunging has become part of her own practice, what really happens on a silent meditation retreat, and how evidence-based mindfulness can support people without requiring a religious framework. So please welcome Jessica and enjoy the conversation. More on Jessica: Bio: https://cocreatecalm.com/about LinkedIn:   / jessica-samples-698a4713a   Daniel J. The best practice is the one that actually fits the life you have. Resistance is not failure. It may be information about what a part of you is protecting. Internal Family Systems views the mind as a collection of parts, not one single voice. The goal is not to get rid of parts, but to understand what they are protecting. Cold plunging, movement, mindful eating, body awareness, and conversation can all be mindfulness practices. Silent retreats do not create a blank mind. They reveal how active the mind already is. Meditation is not about getting good at meditation. It trains presence, choice, and steadiness. Mindfulness can be secular, evidence-based, and practical. Working with a mindfulness teacher can be short-term support or a longer-term toolkit across seasons of life. The simplest invitation is to start somewhere and follow what feels useful.
