Magdalena Zawadzka: lubię, kiedy reżyser pomaga aktorom, jest czujny i uważny

As every week, two passionate stage artists, Malwina Kiepiel and Magda Kuydowicz, discuss performances, festivals, and theater-related events taking place throughout Poland and beyond. They also speak with creators: actors, directors, composers, and playwrights. This time, their guests will be the outstanding actress Magdalena Zawadzka and the director of the Ateneum Theatre, Artur Tyszkiewicz. Magdalena Zawadzka recently played one of the main roles at the Ateneum Theatre in Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap," directed by Artur Tyszkiewicz. Erwin Axer mentioned that there are two types of directors: those who deal with actors—he included Osterwa among them—and those who don't deal with actors much, citing Leon Schiller. "I think I try to deal with actors." Because what I propose is, above all, a conversation with the audience, which isn't so obvious in theater anymore. (...) So, first of all, I talk to the audience, and for me, the primary medium for this conversation is the actor. And the author," says director and director of the Ateneum Theatre, Artur Tyszkiewicz. "I don't create 'authorial theater': I create theater that follows the author's instructions with the help of wonderful actors," he explains. "For this reason, I have to deal with the actor, because it's the only medium through which I communicate with the audience," he points out.
