Did Abraham really exist? Can we find his trace in the archives of his time, or should we primarily see him as a literary figure who became the spiritual father of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam? The verdict is less dramatic than a miniature: Abraham may have existed, but we possess no direct evidence to identify the man recounted in Genesis. However, his historical, religious, and political influence is immense. Don't just take my word for it.
