Language Café - Wagga Wagga City Library

The Language Café at Wagga Wagga City Library welcomes everyone who wants to improve their spoken English. The Language Café has been supporting multicultural communities since 2017. It is a welcoming place, where people make connections with others by having relaxed conversations in English. The Café has helped thousands of people to improve their English, and it is open to everyone from beginners to experienced speakers. There are Cafe sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays during school terms. Each session starts at 11am, and runs until 12:30pm. The Café is run by library staff, who prepare worksheets and handouts for the Café volunteers. The volunteers then help the learners in small groups. Conversation topics are practical things like shopping, health, work, and daily life in Australia. The Language Café also holds excursions to places like the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, the Civic Theatre, and the Museum of the Riverina. There is a tea trolley at every Language Café session, to help people feel comfortable, so they can start a conversation with volunteers and fellow learners.
