Mk1 Ford Escort Returns! | 10,000 rpm Modern Continuation w/ Rally Gearbox | Boreham Motorworks

It seems every other weekend these days that we're seeing new recreations, reimagining's and restomods of iconic classic cars. This particular car though goes beyond even that to being officially approved by Ford themselves - including use of the iconic Mk1 Escort name - to build 150 modern continuations of this rally legend from Coventry-based Boreham Motorworks. As with all of these modern takes on retro models, it doesn't come cheap, and is sold in Ford GT 'application' fashion, complete with a supercar rivalling £300k price tag. What you get for that is a car based on the original design, but with numerous modern improvements including aluminium and titanium construction, updated (but still deliberately retro) interior, and the option of either a forged 180 bhp Twin-Cam 1845 cc motor in the style of the original cars, or alternately a near 300 horsepower 2.1 litre modern Ford motor with 10,000 rpm ceiling... Either of these when combined with your choice of either 4 speed straight-cut rally box or 5 speed dog leg with longer ratios, and of course the authentic choice of RWD only, means that despite its eyewatering price tag, it is at least bound to be very fun to drive.
