Double half presents a Docu-feature directed by Raja Biswas on the myth and trust of the Goddess Sheetala and the making of Goddess Sheetala in a subaltern form of entertainment of Jatra or Yatra during the worship of Goddess Sheetala. Just as rituals enliven the idol made of earth and wood, the stage brings to life the Goddess of Spring. Sitala. The Goddess of Spring. It is believed she rescues us from disease and danger. Her divine glory is spread via Sitala Yatra (enactment). Mrinal aka Mona da played the role of Sheetala and Just as the earthen idol is gradually built to perfection, so comes to life the actor as Sitala. The devotees believe in the glory of the Goddess. They pray to her in times of need. And in this case, they turn to the person who plays the Goddess. The devotees believe that whatever he says, comes true. What does this actor want? How the future remembers him? An actor who plays a female role? Or who in spite of being a human being, creates divinity through his work? Illusion.
