MAYHEM - Life Eternal - Bass Cover by Brice Leclercq (read the description for some info...)

"Life Eternal" comes from the mighty "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" released in 1994. The tuning is kind of standard, it's between D # G# C# F# and E A D G and I tuned it by ear. As you (should) already know Varg Vikernes recorded the bass on the album. And what a great job he did! This is very inspiring and there are very important bass parts on "De Mysteriis". If you don't see any information about who played bass on the album, this is simply because he murdered Euronymous after recording his parts but before the release. Euronymous' family asked Hellhammer to re-record the bass on the album, he said "yes" but he never did it ( a bit like me and my bass parts on "Reinkaos" ). Fose who don't know, Attila sang two times live with Dissection back in the days. The first time was in Budapest for the european tour by the end of 2004. He was the arranger of the gig and we spontaneously did "Freezing Moon" and "Elisabeth Bathory" together. We rehearsed the songs once during the balance and played them straight during the gig. Great memories and a very special atmosphere. And btw, he accepted to re-join Mayhem the same day. We also ended up living the venue quickly since some idiots started some fight with us... The second time was in Noway, at "Inferno Festival" in 2005, we headlined (in front of Morbid Angel and they didn't like that...) but they didn't want us to continue during the encore since our time was up. I remember that Jon and I tried to negociate with the arranger for two more tracks ( Freezing Moon and Elisabeth Bathory with Attila) but he wouldn't let us. So we looked at each other and said "fuck hit.." and we played anyway. They didn't like that at all; so they turned off the PA system, kicked our sound guy out, turned on the lights and pushed people out of the venue while we were playing and we didn't stop until we were done... Anyhow I had some very interesting conversations with Attila and I have a lot of respect for him. Enjoy!
