Diesel Locomotive 88U02 in Tanzania 2015 🇹🇿

Tanzania Railways narrow-gauge (1000 mm) diesel locomotive 88U02 crosses a busy road, in order to pick up a rake from Dar es Salaam Railway Station. The locomotive then returns, pulling a train destined for Kigoma and Mwanza. This metre-gauge diesel locomotive was built in 1971 by “MLW Industries” of “MLW-Worthington”, but after being in a state of disrepair for years, it was remanufactured in 2014 by a Malaysian company “SMH Rail”. The original continuous power output of 1400 kW was increased to 1715 kW. The “U” in 88U stands for “Upgraded”.
