Signalong Introduction | Supporting Communication for Children & Young People

We are pleased to launch a new series of ‪@signalong‬training videos, designed to support communication for children and young people with additional needs. What is Signalong? Signalong is a sign‑supported communication system that uses key word signs alongside speech. It is widely used to support children and young people with communication difficulties, including those with learning difficulties, autism and speech and language needs. By combining signs with spoken language, Signalong can improve understanding, support expression and reduce frustration when communication is challenging. These videos, delivered by our trainer Sara, provide simple, practical guidance to help parents, carers and professionals build their confidence using Signalong in everyday situations. This introduction video is the first in the series. We hope it provides a helpful starting point as you begin to explore Signalong.
