The Clash - "Tommy Gun" Live in Rude Boy (Kinema Ballroom, Dunfermline - 6 July 1978)

In the 1980 cult semi-documentary Rude Boy - directed by Jack Hazan and David Mingay - The Clash rip through their high-velocity single "Tommy Gun" from the album Give 'Em Enough Rope. The footage comes from a real gig at the Kinema Ballroom in Dunfermline, Scotland on 6 July 1978 during the band's "Clash On Patrol" UK tour. Audio tracks were later re-recorded at Wessex Studios for the film, which blends real concert footage with a fictional story following young Clash roadie Ray Gange through late-70s Britain. Watch the clip closely and you can see the spit fly straight toward the band - the classic punk ritual known as "gobbing." In the raw early UK punk scene, fans showed appreciation by hocking loogies at the stage.
