The formation of the Kerala Congress was the result of certain unexpected events within the Congress party. Within just three months of its establishment, the party had to face an election. In 1965, contesting in 53 seats, the Kerala Congress won 24 seats, posing a strong challenge to the Congress party. It was during this election that Congress leader K.M.
