The Power You Speak | Patrick Vaden | TEDxBrown County Schools
Words have the power to build people up or tear them down. In The Power You Speak, Patrick Vaden explores how the language we use every day shapes relationships, influences emotions, and leaves lasting impressions on those around us. Through powerful examples and reflection, he challenges us to choose words that encourage, inspire, and create positive change. Patrick Vaden is a 6th grader at the Brown County Middle School in Indiana. He lives with his two parents, Kelsey Barrett and Andrew Jackson, who have always encouraged him to try new things, Such as they did with TedEd when Patrick was a 5th grader. He joined TedEd because he has recently started embracing new things, and because he thought that it would be “A fun little side quest”. His favorite part of the experience was pushing his boundaries and learning new things that he otherwise wouldn’t have learned. He hopes that his speech will spark a need to use words in a positive way, and to make people really think about how they talk to others. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
