In September this year my friend suggested that they used a bass guitar instead of a regular electric and it was actually spot on. Countless hours of fiddling with effects, pedals, synths and plugins, like a few thousand listens of the original song, and then recording all of this... and this completely from scratch remake of my favorite cyberpunk soundtrack is done!
