Sit back and enjoy an in-depth, 21 minute full-length, behind-the-scenes insight into how we built a fleet of flagship Double-Expanding, 24-Camera, 1080p Outside Broadcast Units & Tender Vehicles for Russian sports production company, ANO Panorama in 2011-2012. A project that Ian Davis (director of Davisian Ltd) managed whilst working for Sony Professional . “As a Project Manager, delivering these ground-breaking OB vehicles on-schedule and within budget was a real career-highlight. A project of such scale and magnitude (over €27M for just my part) was truly a one-off. It was a mammoth undertaking and one that kept me and my amazing team maxed-out for well over a year (at one point, we had over 100 people actively working on getting these complex units built). A build, complicated enough in terms of the sheer volume of the new technology we were integrating (such as the latest generation Sony HDC cameras and BVM OLED professional displays), but also not-helped by the fact our main installation phase happened to coincide with the 2012 London Olympics (which simply soaked up all the regular Broadcast Systems resource pool)!... Finding enough professional Wiring Personnel and Installation Engineers who were prepared to work their socks off in Basingstoke, whilst most of their colleagues were enjoying the buzz of summertime London in the run up to the games, was a challenge I’d rather not face again in a hurry! But, as this video shows, with the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, it was a project that turned out great.
