Opposition downplays Heroes’ Day celebrations
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged to support the acquisition of land for the establishment of a museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing Uganda’s liberation war heritage. The proposed museum is expected to be built on a 60-acre piece of land formerly owned by Mrs. Mutebile, widow of the late former Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile. The President also committed to meeting with veterans to assess the impact of various government initiatives designed to improve their livelihoods.
