Review: Frank Sinatra Conducts Alec Wilder
Here's a real collector's item. In 1945 Frank Sinatra let a small ensemble of strings and (among others) crack woodwind soloists in "classical" music of his good friend and iconic song-writer, Alec Wilder. He's joined on this CD by Wilder himself leading his own Octet in more instrumentals (from 1939). A bit of true discographic history here, and the music itself is delightful.
