Building a Winter Survival Shelter for a Shepherd with Nomads in Iran’s Deserts

How do nomads prepare for winter in the desert? Today we built a simple winter survival shelter for a shepherd, so he can rest safely at night while taking his flock to graze in Iran’s deserts. We also cooked a traditional local food called Qaroot. It’s made by boiling yogurt, letting it thicken and dry, then rubbing it in a clay bowl until it releases oil. After that, water is added and it’s eaten with bread, onions, potatoes, or local herbs. Along the way, we made fire-brewed tea and fire-roasted potatoes and enjoyed a warm meal together in the heart of the desert. This video shows real nomadic life, simple food, and survival in Iran’s harsh winter desert.
