Real Mexican Day of the Dead | Amazing Guanajuato Bar Crawl & Celebrations!

Dio de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead 2025, was a Mexican party like no other. We travelled to Mexico City and on to Guanajuato to experience the authentic Dio de los Muertos celebrations - including the best bar crawl of the year and a suitably spooky parade. Mexico City was certainly filled with Day of the Dead revellers, enjoying the costumes and local beverages. We explored some of the tourist highlights, but wanted to get a proper taste of how Mexicans party in honour of their deceased brethren. That's why we ventured into the heart of the country, to Guanajuato. An absolutely stunning and colourful city, Guanajuato is the self-titled capital of the state and an essential visit. Day of the Dead transforms the entire place, with the subterranean tunnels converted into a proper Dio de los Muertos bar crawl. Probably the best bar crawl I've been on in 2025. So good, I'd happily make the journey over again for a 2026 repeat!
