What IS freedom? Freedom is too abstract a concept to denote an objective definition, but I believe Hajime Isayama, the author of Shingeki No Kyujin/ Attack on Titan, offers a fresh perspective on freedom and liberty. This video has NO manga spoilers and NO season 4 spoilers. This video has been in and out of production for over a year, and I’m so stoked to finally drop it. I’m hoping to shed light on some more of the “esoteric” themes Isayama planted throughout the series. Featuring the work of psychologist Carl Jung and his work with symbolism and archetypes, Paul Maclean and his investigations of the human brain, and Sigmund Freud and Erich Fromm on their studies into the nature of civilization. I discuss the hidden meaning of the flowers throughout the series, the metaphor of the titan and the reptile brain, and more.
