Professor Shin Yong-ha: “The Origin of Koreans is the Gojoseon People, Formed by the Fusion of the Three Tribes: ‘Han,’ ‘Maek,’ and ‘Ye’” Please note that this lecture may differ from the views of the National Academy of Korean Studies. The 114th National Lecture was held under the theme of “The Formation of the Gojoseon State and Gojoseon Civilization.” 0:00 Intro: Where Did the Origins of the Korean People Come From? 15:15 Why Did Paleolithic People Live in Caves? 18:50 The Emergence of Neolithic People on the Korean Peninsula 32:09 The World's First Rice Culture, the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution 44:10 Pointed-Bottom Comb-Pattern Pottery and Agricultural Tools 49:00 The Formation of the Han Tribe and Capstone Dolmens 55:35 Beliefs in Sun Worship 1:00:50 The Theory of the Union of Three Tribes for the Founding of the Gojoseon State 1:17:57 The Origin of the Korean People and the Origin of National Culture 1:29:25 The State of Gojoseon In this lecture, Professor Shin Yong-ha delivered an in-depth lecture on “Where did our people originate, how were they formed, how did they establish a state, and how have they reached the present day?” He also presented interesting content indicating that the progenitors of Koreans significantly contributed to the formation of the Yellow River civilization, along with suggestions for revising existing theories based on the results of archaeological excavations and identifying historical tasks that require new attention. Professor Shin emphasized, “The existing academic community has argued that the origins of the Korean people lie in migration and influx from regions such as Lake Baikal, the Caucasus near the Black and Caspian Seas, the Altai region, Mongolia, and Siberia; however, verification results have shown a lack of scientific basis, and there is a need to establish a new paradigm based on new excavation findings and a scientific foundation.” Professor Shin Yong-ha stated, “As evidenced by agricultural remains, such as rice seeds dating back to 10,550 B.C., excavated in Sorori, Cheongwon-gun, in the Geumgang River basin, the Korean people are a cultured nation that initiated and propagated the ‘Neolithic Agricultural Revolution’ for the first time in East Asia. Furthermore, they possessed a ‘sun worship’ ideology and a consciousness of being descendants of Heaven that differed significantly from the ‘sun worship’ of Neolithic people in general.” He stated, “The ‘Gojoseon people,’ formed by the combination and fusion of the three tribes of ‘Han,’ ‘Maek,’ and ‘Ye’ into a single cultural community, are the ‘original people’ of Korea and the ‘origin of the Korean people.’ The Gojoseon people integrated the Han River culture, the Daedong River culture, and the Liaohe culture to create ‘Gojoseon culture’ and formed ‘Gojoseon civilization,’ which included the cultures of subsequent states.” He identified the goddess worship and jade ornament culture of Uha-liang within the Hongshan culture as traces of the ‘Maek’ tribe ruled by a Ye chieftain, and identified the ‘Ye’ recorded in the Book of Later Han as a tribe possessing a tiger totem. #AncientHistoryOfTheKoreanPeople #Gojoseon #ShinYongHa ________________________________________________________________________________ Professor Shin Yong-ha is a leading sociologist and historian in Korea.
