Khiva, located in the west of Uzbekistan, is one of the better preserved cities of the Silk Road. Although its old town, surrounded by impressive walls, is small, you will find plenty of oriental monuments here, including the turquoise, unfinished Kalta minaret. No wonder Khiva is called a museum city: the number of monuments in such a small space is huge.
