Copacabana Beach is dotted with sunbathers and colorful umbrellas against the white sand. Others play in the waves (5:53-6:15). An aquaplaner is towed by a ski boat (6:16-6:30). The President lived in the Guanabara Palace. 100-year-old Royal Palms line the avenue leading to it (20:26-20:50). Teenage girls in uniforms leave school. Younger children also wear matching blue rompers or white uniforms. A seller offers candy from a large basket (20:51-22:07). The Carioca Aqueduct overlooks sidewalk cafes. Men are dressed in white suits with straw hats (22:09-22:39). The Candelaria Church dates to 1775 (22:40-23:30). Men and women in 1940s clothing and hairstyles pass the camera (23:31-23:58). Shops sell preserved butterflies, secret opening wooden boxes, Hugo sterling silver coffee and tea sets, and flowers made from feathers, (24:00-25:02). Christ the Redeemer is shown at sunset (25:09). A colorfully dressed brass band performs at the Copacabana casino. People dance the Samba. The orchestra rotates to reveal a new band. A second dance floor emerges. Beautiful costumed women perform (25:54-27:47). A tambourine player does tricks with it (27:48-28:25).
