Ozone Alpina 5 - Agave Hill "The Golf Run"

Although early spring in the desert southwest of the USA is often blown out, about once per week we have been having great flying weather. This day was one of several such recently in El Paso. Almost perfect conditions for a late afternoon flight, strong enough to bench up and make things happen, but not blown out and with reasonable uppers for this time of year. I had been toying with the idea of "the Golf Run" for a while, but a few days ago on a day when I also had a great flight from Agave, Clint and Wes both did it. I have been resisting for a variety of reasons. The City of El Paso has an ordinance prohibiting the takeoff/landing of aircraft within the city limits other than at officially designated airports. This raises an interesting question: are paragliders operating under FAR part 103 "aircraft?" FAR 103 does not mention aircraft, they refer to the things we fly as "Ultralight Vehicles." Still, I'm not sure if that argument would convince a judge if the City decided to press charges. Other reasons for my hesitation: *The Coronado Country Club is privately owned. They have not given us official permission to land there. *There are plenty of other great legal places to land - for example, anywhere in the Franklin Mountains State Park. It is more hazardous than landing on the entrance road where I usually land. But I decided just once (probably) to try it. It was interesting and scenic. #paragliding #golf #alpina
