I really don't know how you could make one simpler or cheaper, especially since the version you see in the video can be made with very little workshop scraps. This video is for those who want to try their hand at small DIY carpentry without having to commit to expensive equipment, and for those new to this wonderful hobby, for those who want to get started. All things considered, I have to admit that a jig like this is really useful in the workshop and for most small jobs, it makes you feel like you don't need a real milling table: it's convenient, easy to use, and the workmanship is truly excellent.
