Van Veen Grab in Action
Alex shows us the Van Veen grab for sediment sampling in ACTION! These tools are used for taking disturbed samples from the bottom of lakes, rivers, etc. Various sizes are available – capacities start at 2 cups to over 2 gallons (0.5 to 12 liters). The smaller versions are manually operated and the larger use a davit, or a small crane, to lower the sampler. The Van Veen Grab can be used for sampling the top layer of consolidated sediment consisting of silt and/or sand. The Van Veen grab is not suitable for sampling hard or extremely soft top layers. We recommend taking at least 6 samples of each location. Interested in one for yourself? Contact [email protected] for quick quote.
