Dennis Bovell interviewed by Lloyd Bradley at the BFI Southbank, London in August 2019 for the event 'Carnival in the time of the Sound System', which is part of the African Odysseys programme. Dennis Bovell is a long-time inspiration in the British music scene; from being a member of Matumbi playing at the Four Aces, to a renowned reggae and dub producer who was responsible for Lovers' Rock and the recordings of Linton Kwesi Johnson. He also produced The Slits, The Pop Group and Fela Kuti. Loyd Bradley is the author of books 'Sounds Like London' and 'Bass Culture', as well as being curator of the Sounds Like London Festival. African Odysseys is a programme that runs regular film screenings, discussions and events about the African Diaspora at the BFI Southbank, London
