This video tours the filming locations of the 1983 movie "The Wife of a Jidai-ya." We begin with a scene where Mayumi (Masako Natsume) and a young man (Hiroyuki Okita) are walking near Oimachi Station. The address in the movie is Higashioi 5-16, and while we visited the same location, the scenery has completely changed. Also, the shopping street where Mayumi bought fish is identified as 1-9 Futaba, Shinagawa Ward, from the movie, but this location has also changed dramatically since then, and we've compared it with aerial photographs. The final video is from Oi Mitsumata intersection, where Jidai-ya's shop (played by Tsunehiko Watase) was located. Unfortunately, the Jidai-ya building is gone and is now a parking lot. The Mitsumata pedestrian bridge where Mayumi walked in the final scene is still standing, and we've compared the surrounding film angles.
