Today, some "scoundrels" wanted to get us! I'm writing this to warn others!!! We were driving on the motorway from Lucca towards Piombino. The motorway turns into a four-lane dual carriageway. A car was driving very slowly in front of us, and we overtook it. It gave a brief impact against our motorhome; we couldn't control it and drove on. A short time later, we were overtaken by the slow-moving car. A person signaled us to stop from the passenger window. A parking bay appeared immediately; the car pulled into the bay, and we followed. A woman got out of the car, followed shortly later by a man, approximately 50 to 60 years old. The woman approached our motorhome. Rita opened the passenger window, and the woman spoke to us in Italian; we didn't understand anything. The man asked me to drive closer to his car (the reason being so I couldn't see his license plate number). I didn't comply. They both asked us to get out, but we didn't. Now the man points to his left rearview mirror and indicates that I hit him. It immediately became clear to me that it all fits with an old trick. We drove on immediately and stopped in a parking lot after a few kilometers. On the passenger side, about 1 meter from the front and 1.2 meters high, our vehicle had a gray line (scratch) about 25 cm long. I was able to polish it away. The trick works like this: when overtaking, they hold out an object, which hits our vehicle. Afterwards, they claim we hit their side mirror. They then demand cash for the damage. The trick is old, and I thought it didn't exist anymore. So be careful!!!
