Winter Hot Tenting and Fire & Ice at Arrowhead Provincial Park Camping, Canada

Welcome to Camping with Kim - my newish camping channel and seventeenth adventure! If you are here for the first time, I don’t talk in my videos. Please join me and enjoy watching my laid-back camping mini adventures where I just get away from Toronto and do a bit of relaxing camping all year round. On this adventure, I get a very early start and drive 2.5 hours north of Toronto to Arrowhead Provincial Park. It started off dark and windy but the skies opened up just in time for me to hit the skating trail! I was the first one on the ice! As the day goes, the skating trail gets busier so I switch to a short hike to the Stubb’s falls. There’s almost nobody on the trail, as to be expected during the winter. It’s great! When I finally finish, my campsite is ready and waiting for me to move into. I easily setup my tipi hot tent and the rest of my furniture before turning on the heat of the stove. After lounging around for a bit, I make some gyros and camp cones for desserts. It’s so cold that all my ingredients were frozen in my car. Just part of the winter experience 😊 After dinner I head back over to the main event – Fire & Ice Winter Skating!! This park does such a wonderful job keeping large warm fires and tiki lights burning for everybody to enjoy a magical experience. Coming here to skate was big bonus to winter camping! After an awesome day, I head back to camp and restart the hot tent stove. Soon after, I slip into my winter sleeping bag for a nice 12-hour sleep. The next day, it’s very cloudy and I see a weather report that a snow is brewing. I call it a bit early and pack up to head home after cooking a warm brunch of udon and pork. I was so lucky to have made it to Arrowhead and experienced their impressive skating trail – during the daytime and nighttime. I’d love do come back again to do more camping here because I really like to skate. Thanks for watching my little adventures and see you again next time!!
