José Antonio Rodríguez Trío - promo video
José Antonio Rodríguez Trío. Contemporary flamenco led by one of Spain’s leading flamenco guitarists. JOSE ANTONIO RODRIGUEZ (guitar/composer) is a remarkable guitarist virtuoso acclaimed for his powerful and evocative renditions of contemporary flamenco and one of the few composers of flamenco music with international prestige. To this we must add his characteristics as a brilliant interpreter and teacher. He has composed music for orchestras and dance companies, participated in major projects with Paco de Lucía and Alejandro Sanz, and appeared in Carlos Saura’s Flamenco. His CD ‘Adiós Muchachos’ was declared by Spain’s El País newspaper to be the best flamenco album of 2016. Rodriguez shared stage and recordings with accomplished musicians/projects such as: Paco De Lucia, Manolo Sanlúcar, Astor Piazzola, Chick Korea, John Mclaughlin Cacho Tirao, Al Di Meola, Larry Coryel, among others. NACHO ARIMANY (percussion) Before moving to the USA in 2009, Nacho Arimany was chiefly known as one of Spain’s most sought after Flamenco percussionists. He entered the world of Flamenco through the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Contest of Madrid, winning a prize for “Pa´dentro,” a martinete composed for Triazion danza. When asked to form a percussion group, he introduced to Flamenco the use of a gourd from Mali as a percussion instrument. Academies, tablaos and baile were his school and he collaborated with Joaquín Cortés, Gerardo Nuñez and Rocio Molina, along with many of Spain’s hottest Flamenco dancers and artists. As a child, age 6, had been classically trained as a pianist, and later on he performed as vocal soloist with soprano diva Montserat Caballé and the Spanish National Orchestra at the opening act of the Spain National Auditorium with the World Premiere of “La Atlántida” by Manuel de Falla. He turned to percussion in his teens and Flamenco was a break with the formalism of his early training. ANDRES VADIN (second guitar) Guitarist Andrés Vadin is Cuban. He studied classical guitar in Havana and won the first prize in the Amadeo Roldan guitar contest when he was twelve. He graduated from the Guillermo Tomas and Amadeo Roldan Conservatory of music and developed a passion for all kinds of music namely Cuban, popular, jazz, rock, flamenco and classical. He has studied with Joaquin Clerch, Leo Brouwer, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Gerardo Nunez, Paco Jarana and Alfredo Lagos among other great guitarists. He also learned to accompany flamenco dancers like Maria Juncal as well as flamenco singers. his musical education let him move with total ease between all styles of music playing and making wonderful arrangements for the blues, the bossa nova, for flamenco, jazz, rock, pop, european folk, middle eastern and cuban songs. he composed music for the Compania de danzas espanolas Aires and the Compania flamenca Ecos.
