But that doesn't mean the company will focus solely on top-of-the-line devices. In fact, it recently launched the mid-range Xperia XA1 here in Brazil, the direct successor to the XA. The device has changed quite a bit over the past year, but are the results good enough to justify its price tag here? That's what you'll see in our review. DESIGN The dimensions of the XA1 haven't changed much compared to the XA, maintaining the same stretched-out style as last year's device. On the other hand, the design has changed significantly, becoming much more boxy. I personally didn't like this style very much. I found it to have a somewhat old-fashioned feel. Furthermore, while the side bezels of the screen are quite narrow, the top and bottom bezels are too large and spoil the look a bit. But since everyone has different tastes, you'll have to decide whether the XA1's style appeals to you or not. Dimensions (H x W x D): 14.5 x 6.7 x 0.8 cm Weight: 143 g But while looks are subjective, build quality isn't. The metal body is quite rigid and appears to be very durable, and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass, so you can rest assured if you drop the device occasionally. Just don't push your luck and think it's waterproof, because it isn't. And if the boxier design made you worried that the XA1 would be uncomfortable to hold, forget it. The narrow shape and slightly rounded sides leave no room for discomfort when holding the phone, which fits very well in one hand. The device's screen is 5 inches and has HD resolution, which is good, but not as good as it could be, since many competitors offer Full HD displays even on much cheaper devices. This is the case with the Moto G5 Plus and Redmi Note 4X, for example. The IPS LCD panel has strong brightness and reproduces colors very well, making the generated images very pleasing. Screen: 5-inch IPS LCD Resolution: HD (1280x720 pixels) Density: 294 ppi In terms of hardware, the XA1 replaced the previous-generation MediaTek P10 processor with the P20, from the same manufacturer. Both are octa-core, but the latest one has a higher clock speed and, therefore, more processing power. The 2017 model has 1 GB more RAM than its predecessor, bringing the total to 3 GB. Storage has also doubled, reaching 32 GB. It can be expanded by an additional 256 GB with a micro SD card.
