But I've also always had a soft spot for much more humble cars, born from such good ideas that their simplicity has become irresistible and contagious. I'm thinking of the first-generation Fiat Panda or the Citroën 2CV, but there have been other cars—before and after—practical, robust, and "easy" that have made those who drove them (very) happy. One of the most recent exponents of this car-building philosophy is the Dacia Duster, which I tested in France on a rather "slick" off-road route.
