Amtrak's Exhibit Train on Westbound California Zephyr, Ottumwa, IA 9/30/15

Amtrak's Exhibit Train is a special, 5-car train that tours the country every year, showcasing the history of Amtrak with interactive displays and memorabilia. On September 30th, 2015, the train was shuttled west on Amtrak's California Zephyr for a weekend on display in Denver on October 3rd-4th. I filmed it as it arrived with the Zephyr in Ottumwa, Iowa. The train's consist features Amtrak's Phase III "heritage" units #145 and #406, an Amfleet car serving as the train's souvenir car, three display cars, and Heritage Fleet sleeping car "Pacific Bend", the Exhibit Train's crew dormitory. Following the Exhibit Train is the normal Zephyr passenger consist. Since the Zephyr was much longer with the Exhibit Train, the train stopped with the locomotives parallel to the depot to change engineers. Then the new engineer pulled the train forward, performed the running brake test, and stopped again to load passengers. With the Zephyr coaches spotted on the platform, the Exhibit Train and the Zephyr's locomotives stuck out across Gateway Drive, where I walked to get one more run-by as the train departed.
