Estlcam Peel Surfacing

I got really good results using this method to surface an MDF spoilboard. Since Estlcam doesn't have a true peel (unidirectional spiral) from outside option a peel path has to be manually created in CAD or CAM. I set the grid to my desired stepover, center the board on the grid and set a point to point path. While the setup time is longer than with unidirectional linear surfacing (   • Estlcam Unidirectional Linear Surfacing  ), it has half the Estlcam estimated machining time. It is also easier to create a multiple pass program (no need to Group the linear paths or set the machining order to As created). Unidirectional linear surfacing does allow setting a 'with the grain' cut direction and could provide a better surface finish on solid wood. Either one should be way better than the climb to conventional cut stair-stepping associated with bidirectional linear surfacing (not the same thing as canted spindle star-stepping).
