The guidance of the Holy Spirit and discerning God’s will. Is guidance an occasional work, reserved for moments when we reach a certain level of spiritual connection? 2. The Holy Spirit and the Guidance of the Apostles: The book of Acts covers about 30–32 years of Church history. In all this time we find only about 14 instances of special guidance. In contrast to these special guidances, there are over 70 decisions made without direct revelation. 3. The Holy Spirit and the Inner Voice: Scripture does not promise guidance through an inner voice. Selfishness and pride can generate impressions that are wrongly associated with the work of the Holy Spirit. Inner impressions must be tested by the wisdom of Scripture and by the wisdom of the local body of Christ!
