RÉVOLUTION JAUNE : LES LEÇONS POLITIQUES DES RONDS-POINTS | LAURENT JEANPIERRE, JULIEN THÉRY

Whatever its outcome in the coming weeks, the Yellow Vest uprising has already achieved more concrete results than any protest movement in over 10 years. Why and how? Laurent Jeanpierre shows in his book "In girum. The political lessons of the roundabouts" that the Yellow Vests have profoundly renewed forms of social struggle. They have challenged not only the neoliberal revolutionary project of Emmanuel Macron and his supporters, but also the categories of understanding and action of traditional actors in politics and trade unionism, as well as the analytical frameworks of sociology and political science. Laurent Jeanpierre emphasizes in particular that the roundabout movement is operating a radical reformulation of politics itself, first by "localizing" it. And it is no longer work that is the primary focus of politicization (as it has been since the 19th century): it is all of existence, first and foremost within its daily spatial and social frameworks. The Yellow Vests tend to reject political abstraction, major ideological issues, and major institutional frameworks. Not out of incompetence (as the professionals of representation and commentary accuse them of), but because, in their eyes, the important issues are framed in terms of tangible, immediate living conditions and real future prospects for themselves, their children, and their elders. At the heart of their politics are not general ideas, but the organization of daily life, its management, its expenses (often constrained, such as those related to travel and housing), sociability, mutual aid, and exchanges. Roundabouts are an emblematic venue for these exchanges (particularly in peri-urban France, where the movement has its roots) and are also decisively facilitated by social media. In other words, the political perspectives of the Yellow Vests are primarily communalist. In many ways, they converge with those of other struggles of recent years, often outside France, which are also rooted in public squares because they are centered primarily on life and its local space. ▶ Support Le Média: 👉 https://soutenez.lemediatv.fr/ 👉 https://www.okpal.com/le-media/ 👉 https://fr.tipeee.com/le-media ✅ Follow us: Facebook: http://bit.ly/FacebookLeMedia Twitter: http://bit.ly/TwitterLeMedia Youtube: http://bit.ly/YouTubeLeMedia Peertube: https://video.lemediatv.fr Join the Socios community! #YellowVests #Politics
