Vought F4U Corsair Flying Demonstration

Flight demonstration of the Vought F4U Corsair at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, CA, USA. One of the most famous and iconic American World War II fighter planes due to its easily recognizable inverted gull wing design, the Vought F4U Corsair proved to be one of the most formidable carrier-based fighters in World War II. This specific Corsair is a F4U-1A, and is owned by the museum. With a new fresh paint scheme similar to how she looked when she first rolled off the assembly line in 1943, it is one of 19 airworthy Corsairs left in the world. In addition, this specific Corsair is the oldest flying Corsair in the world and a World War II combat veteran!! Piloted by Matt Nightingale, he commenced the demo of the iconic Corsair by starting up her 2,000hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine right in front of the crowd!! Shortly after, he took flight and made flying passes above the museum for twenty minutes. He then concluded the flight demo by returning and stopping the Corsair right in front of the crowd.
