How Do I Reduce Microphone Bleedover From a Podcast?
I often get asked the question, "Shannon, I always hear my guest/co-host bleeding through my microphone when I am podcasting. How do I reduce the microphone bleedover from a podcast?" Sound bleed over in a podcast recording all starts with the setup of your microphones and were your microphones are placed within your physical setup. When I talk about "bleed over" in this video, I'm mainly talking about the sound of one host's voice over into the other host's microphone. This video is NOT about noise floors or ambient noise. I am specifically talking about sound bleed from one host to the next. In order to fix this problem, the person who is running the podcasting--typically the main host--should always be in control of how hot the levels are on their microphones. Typically, the main host microphone (Mic 1) should be the richest sounding microphone on the recording followed by the secondary and tertiary microphones riding just below Mic 1 levels. As the podcast recording happens, it will be dependent on the main host to adjust the microphone levels on the mixing board so there is a reduction in bleed over from one host to the next. Microphone bleedover is something that just happens when you do a podcast recording. What podcasters have to determine is whether they are recording a podcast like that of radio or a style that is more like a story. There significant differences in the bleed over when it comes to the style of podcast you will be recording. - - - - - - - - 👇 Discover More Valuable Resources Below 👇 🎙️ Looking for Podcast Equipment Recommendations?
