Desert House Made of "Lava-Crete" | Casa Caldera
Casa Caldera, designed by DUST Architects, is a residence built with "lava-crete"—a mixture of pulverized red volcanic rock, cement, and water—that naturally blends into the desert landscape. Inspired by the vernacular "Zaguan" typology, its spatial organization allows for cross-ventilation and a direct connection to the outdoors. The thick walls provide thermal insulation, while sustainable solutions such as solar energy and a well make the house efficient and self-sufficient.
