When the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, she was in the army’s barracks in Inokuchi Village. During a morning assembly, a pure white flash suddenly penetrated through the room, and there was a loud sound. Because of that, she assumed that a bomb had been dropped at point blank. She still blames herself for passing by a small girl, who was asking for help, without feeling any emotion, when she was walking in Hiroshima City in search of her missing friend. Since she became a teacher after the end of World War II, Mori-san has conveyed the folly of war through her lessons. She says that we must not wage a war that can deprive us of our humanity.
