PNQ : Tension entre Lesjongard et Uteem ce matin
An employer must demonstrate their inability to recruit locally before hiring foreign workers. This was stated by Reza Uteem, Minister of Labour, in response to a Private Notice Question from Joe Lesjongard. However, no comprehensive impact study has yet been finalized. The ministry is relying on figures from an inter-ministerial committee meeting in January 2025 to assess labor shortages. The exchanges became tense after a follow-up question from Joe Lesjongard. He mentioned a company applying for a recruitment license whose shareholders are reportedly close to the minister. This led to a suspension of the session.
